Wrestlemania History Lesson - #3

This is the third Wrestlemania History lesson and we are going to talk in it about...

Wrestlemania III:

1.The Can-Am Connection {Rick Martel and Tom Zenk} defeated Bob Orton and The Magnificent Muraco {w/Mr.Fuji} - 05:37
2.Billy Jack Haynes and Hercules {w/Bobby Heenan} fought to a double count out - 07:53
3.Hillbilly Jim & The Haiti Kid & Little Beaver defeated King Kong Bundy & Little Tokyo & Lord Littlebrook in a Six person mixed tag team match via a Disqualification - 04:23.
4.Harley Race {w/Bobby Heenan and The Fabulous Moolah} defeated The Junkyard Dog in a Loser Must Bow match - 03:22.
5.The Dream Team {Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake} {w/Johnny Valiant} defeated The Rougeau Brothers {Jacques and Raymond} - 04:04.
6.Roddy Piper defeated Adrian Adonis in a Hair vs Hair match - 06:14.
7.The Hart Foundation {Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart} and  Danny Davis {w/Jimmy Hart} defeated The British Bulldogs {Davey Boy Smith and Dynamie Kid} and Tito Santana in a Six man tag team match - 08:52.
8.Butch Reed defeated Koko B. Ware - 03:39.
9.Ricky Steamboat {w/George Steele} defeated Randy Savage {w/Miss Elizabeth} {C} to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship - 14:36
10.The Honky Tonk man {w/Jimmy Hart} defeated Jake Roberts {{w/Alice Cooper| - 07:05
11.The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff {w/Slick} defeated The Killer Bees {B.Brian Blair and Jim Brunzell} {w/Jim Duggan} via a Disqualification - 05:44.
12.Hulk Hogan {C} defeated Andre The Giant to retain the WWF Championship - 12:30.

So the first match was a nice opener and I would not have changed a think.Rick Martel is a great wrestler and when you put him in a tag team match with Muraco on the other side you know something good is going to happen. Then you have the forgettable Hercules vs Haynes match but it was a decent match like the Six man mixed tag team match after it.Then you had Harley Race defeating Junkyard Dog in a decent match which was builed very good in my opinion. Then you had a filler tag match with The Dream Team obviously going over here. The hair vs Hair match was a nice match and it was done very well {when you have a man like Piper in the ring what can you expect}.Next the Six man tag was really good {not amazing} but I think that The Hart Foundation vs The Bulldogs alone for the tag titles was better. Then there was another filler match with Reed vs Koko B. Ware.A nice forgettable match happened between Honky Tonk man and Jake Roberts absolutley a WM kind of match at that time and you had another filler match with The Shiek and Volkoff defeating the Killer Bees via a DQ.

Then we go to our 2 main events.First of all you have in my opinon not only the match of the night but the greatest match in the WWF in the 80's - Ricky Steamboat vs Randy Savage for the IC title. This was an amazing match with a great buildup towards. They have done the right decision with Steamboat winning and starting to push Savage up to the top.

But in the end the Main Event of the show was one of the most memorable matches of all times Hogan vs Andre. This was a decent match with a great ending when you had a WM moment with Hogan slamming Andre and again like the year before Hogan winning with the crowd goes home happy.

As far as celebrity goes for this event the WWF understood that tons of celebtiry might take away the focus out of this great wrestling event which is in my opinion one of the top 5 manias of all time for sure and produced the most wrestlemania moments for a single event in my opinion. So the celebrities in this were:Bob Uecker {interviewer & guest commentator & guest ring announcer} & Alice Cooper {manager of Jake Roberts} & Aretha Franklin {sang America The Beautiful} & Mary Hart {guest time keeper & interviewer}.This is only about 15% of the amount of celebrities that were the year before! Just think about it...

Anyways this is my ideal card for this show:
1.Tito Santana defeated Danny Davis {w/Jimmy Hart}.
2.The Killer Bees {B.Brian Blair and Jim Brunzell} {W/Jim Duggan} defeated The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff {w/Slick}.
3.Billy Jack Haynes and Hillbilly Jim {w/Haiti Kid} defeated Hercules and King Kong Bundy {w/Bobby Heenan} via a Disqualification.
4.Bob Orton and The Magnificent Muraco {w/Mr Fuji} defeated The Can-Am Connection {Rick Martel and Tom Zenk}.
5.Roddy Piper defeated Adrian Adonis in a Hair vs Hair match.
6.The Hart Foundation {C} {w/Jimmy Hart} defeated The British Bulldogs to retain the WWF Tag Team Championship.
7.Jake Roberts defeated Koko B. Ware.
8.The Honk Tonk Man defeated Butch Reed
9.Harley Race {w/Bobby Heenan and The Fabulous Moolah} defeated The Junkyard Dog in a Loser must bow match.
10.The Dream Team {Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake} defeated The Rougeau Brothers {Jacques and Raymond}.
11.Ricky Steamboat {w/George Steele} defeated Randy Savage {C} {w/Miss Elizabeth} to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship.
12.Hulk Hogan {C} defeated Andre The Giant {w/Bobby heenan} to retain the WWF Championship.

So this was my History Lesson about Wrestlemania III which was one of the greatest Wrestlemanias in history. But was Wrestlemania IV also that good ?
